Bernadette Fall 2026: A Celebration of Hospitality and Style
The Antwerp-based design duo, Bernadette and Charlotte de Geyter, presented a captivating collection for their third season in Paris, showcasing their unique take on ladylike dressing. The highlight of this collection was a short film titled "The Hostess," directed by Belgian filmmaker Studio Alfons Meyer, which served as a creative backdrop for the designs.
The film featured a diverse group of women preparing to host an elegant party in a stately home, embodying the various personalities that inspired the collection. Charlotte de Geyter emphasized the diversity within their cast, mentioning a pair of white shirts with tone-on-tone embroideries. One shirt was designed with ample proportions in crisp poplin, while the other had a more fitted, fluid, and girly silhouette.
The younger de Geyter focused on creating captivating prints, including allover delphinium spurs on a caftan, a satin evening gown, and a chiné hydrangea print that evoked a winter garden. The collection also incorporated roses and cherry blossoms, with a playful touch added through juicy berries embroidered onto gowns and delicate velvet evening pouches.
The collection introduced new shoe styles, such as higher-heeled designs and hand-embroidered silk pumps. Cozy knits received a floral makeover, featuring an intarsia motif on a comfortable sweater, worn over a fuchsia silk evening gown in Bernadette's signature style. A ribbed khaki cardigan with appliqué embroideries was designed to be paired with a taffeta mid-length skirt, adorned with bows at its dropped waist.
Signature ribbon details were seamlessly integrated into the collection, adding a touch of elegance to bright pink pajamas and crushed velvet dresses. The gingham silhouettes, with their asymmetric shoulders and knitted reinterpretations, brought a contemporary twist to a nostalgic wardrobe, blending old-world glamour with modern aesthetics.
